Interior Project | MultiRoom

Koselig Comfort Home

This first-floor renovation reinvented the kitchen, hearth, living room, entryway, laundry and primary bath, embracing Scandinavian design influenced by the homeowners’ Norwegian heritage. The vision was to replace dark, outdated interiors with a light-filled, inviting atmosphere that embodies “koselig”—a deep sense of warmth and well-being. Natural materials, an airy layout and a neutral palette create an environment that feels both modern and deeply rooted in tradition.

Structural changes, including wall removals and new window installations, were essential in achieving the open concept while maintaining architectural integrity. Carefully selected elements such as wide-plank white oak flooring, black-framed windows and a striking 18-foot, dual-sided porcelain fireplace establish a refined aesthetic. Stained floating vanities and porcelain-wrapped showers in the bathrooms enhance the serene ambiance, while custom features like a built-in dog station add personal touches. The finished design strikes a balance between contemporary sophistication and the welcoming spirit of a koselig home.
