Landscape + Garden
Conceived as a natural extension of the home, this outdoor living space dissolves the boundary between architecture and landscape. Every line, material, and view was composed to create a seamless transition from interior to exterior—transforming daily routines into an immersive connection with nature.
Rooted in a native cedar and oak canopy, the design preserves and enhances the wooded character of the site. Selective thinning introduced light and balance, allowing new plantings and stone pathways to thrive without compromising the landscape’s maturity. Winding paths follow the site’s natural contours, blending architectural clarity with organic flow and guiding movement through layered terrain.
Accessed through dual sliding doors, the covered lanai continues the home’s interior rhythm. Porcelain flooring extends outward, while a marble-plank fireplace, built-in grill, and Corten steel firepit establish a refined palette of texture and tone. Layered lighting and defined gathering zones transition the space effortlessly from day to evening, supporting both lively entertaining and quiet retreat.
The project’s primary challenge was preservation—nestling functional living areas among mature trees without disrupting the site’s integrity. Large native limestone boulders were integrated into the hardscape to form natural seating, anchoring the design in its surroundings. Rather than raising the home’s elevation as initially recommended, the team lowered it to create a more natural transition, improve drainage, and reduce driveway slope. Retaining walls discreetly support the grade change and guide water flow.
In this serene, resort-inspired environment, craftsmanship, comfort, and conservation work in harmony.
