Thoughtful refinements elevated an existing spec home into a retreat through a modern cottage aesthetic mixed with traditional European influences—earthy colors, organic stone surfaces, and soft wood tones. Rather than pursuing costly structural changes, the design team focused on strategic adjustments that transformed the layout into a home that feels intentionally designed, warm, and appealing to today’s homebuyers.

The exterior was simplified and elevated by extending stone across the full front gable, dramatically framing the grand entry. A robust wood lintel, inspired by historic European stone construction, ties together the façade and garage doors, while stone gables and wainscot recall the rustic beauty of countryside masonry, balanced by board-and-batten siding rooted in Medieval Europe.

Inside, the home layers organic warmth with refined detailing. Hand-hewn-style beams, wicker accents, and a striking stone feature wall ground the entry in natural textures, while a sleek black steel staircase with chunky wood treads adds modern sophistication. The living room continues this balance—its gable walls wrapped in stone evoke the feeling of a European barn, anchored by a cast-concrete mantel reminiscent of grand country estates. Flanking the fireplace, custom black reeded glass cabinets add depth and function. The kitchen blends practicality with elegance—its limestone-inspired hood, thick island countertop, and hidden storage make it ideal for both entertaining and daily life. In the primary bathroom, traditional elements mix with modern ones. Downstairs, the bar and wine room feature rich materials, curved casework, and perimeter-lit porcelain that looks like marble. The look is warm and elegant, perfect for modern living.
