This home was originally built with beautiful European-inspired architectural details, but featured dark, heavy finishes that made many spaces feel dated. Although the structure was well-built and filled with quality materials, the new owners envisioned a lighter, fresher aesthetic that would still honor the home’s original character. The renovation focused on brightening the interiors while preserving the craftsmanship and architectural features that gave the home its identity.

The primary challenge was finding the right balance between modernization and preservation. Elements such as the kitchen’s exposed beams, distinctive floor patterns, and existing dark stone were important to retain, as they reflected the home’s European influence. At the same time, the interiors needed updated materials, improved functionality, and a lighter palette that aligned with the new owners’ vision.

The solution centered on thoughtful material selections and carefully considered updates. Paint throughout the home was refreshed to create a brighter, more cohesive backdrop. The kitchen was fully remodeled with light white oak cabinetry paired with brass accents and white marble, bringing warmth and elegance while maintaining a timeless European feel. A distinctive Waterworks faucet—long admired by the design team—became a standout detail in the space.

New furnishings, lighting, and styling were introduced throughout the home to unify the refreshed aesthetic with the existing architecture. The result is a balanced transformation that feels lighter and more current while still honoring the home’s European roots.
