Redesigned Residence 3,001-6,000 sq ft
This European-inspired home was beautifully constructed with high-quality materials, but dark, heavy finishes made the spaces feel outdated. The new owners wanted a lighter, fresher aesthetic that still honored the architecture while incorporating personal touches reflecting their family, travels, and interests.
The remodel began with an updated paint palette throughout the home to brighten the interiors. The kitchen was completely reimagined with light white oak cabinetry, brass accents, and white marble countertops, creating a refined, contemporary space that still echoed the home’s European roots. The powder room retained its original stained-glass window while gaining a floating marble vanity with an integrated sink. A new pool lounge in the basement offers a perfect gathering spot, complementing future recreational additions. Throughout the home, new furnishings, lighting, and styling unify the refreshed aesthetic while respecting the architecture.
The primary challenge was balancing modernization with preservation. Key elements—stained-glass windows, existing beams, and dark stone accents—needed to be retained, while plumbing, fixtures, and finishes were updated to feel current. Personal touches, from family taxidermy to curated memorabilia, were thoughtfully integrated to make the home uniquely theirs.
By carefully selecting materials, updating finishes, and layering personal details, the home was transformed into a light, vibrant, and inviting space that maintains its original elegance and European-inspired charm—a harmonious blend of past and present.
