This project became a deeply collaborative experience between designer and client, evolving over nearly a year and resulting in a space both are immensely proud of. The vision was to blend the texture and richness of Old World influences with eclectic curves and distinctive finishes, creating a cozy, inviting living room layered with personality at every turn.

The existing space had strong architectural bones but lacked character. Its long, narrow footprint and centrally located fireplace created design challenges, particularly when trying to establish a comfortable seating arrangement. The goal was to create a lounge-worthy living room with a large sectional, a strong fireplace focal point, and a custom built-in capable of housing a 70-inch television—all while maintaining visual balance and an inviting flow.

The solution relied heavily on custom design. To prevent the fireplace from encroaching on the seating area, a plaster artisan crafted a scaled-down fireplace with sculptural presence and texture. A custom media wall was designed with fluted detailing and curved edges, introducing subtle moments of personality while discreetly concealing the television behind an oversized piece of art.

For seating, a petite modular sectional sourced through a local vintage furniture dealer was reupholstered, giving a classic piece new life while perfectly fitting the proportions of the room. Throughout the project, local artisans were intentionally incorporated—from plaster work to furniture restoration—adding craftsmanship and authenticity that enriched the final design. The warm, character-filled living space feels both collected and personal.
