Resting confidently at the end of a cul-de-sac, this home was imagined as a sentinel—elegant, grounded, and timeless, celebrating European-inspired design. Vaulted ceilings and hand-hewn beams lift the eye upward, while generous windows invite sunlight to pour in, animating the textures within. The play of shadow and brightness shifts gently throughout the day, giving the home a living rhythm. Large elliptical arches distinguish the main living areas, curving softly to frame views and guide movement with ease. Every molding profile, beam alignment, and window placement became part of a larger conversation between past and present. Through thoughtful detailing and a restrained palette of refined materials, the home feels both rooted and ethereal.

Every project brings its own set of challenges, and this home’s began with its setting. While Old Leawood guided design decisions, the limitations led to clarity, resulting in a home that is rooted yet unmistakably fresh. The lot’s narrow shape and strict setbacks forced the team to reconsider proportion and flow. The footprint was reshaped to be shallower, rebalancing every line to preserve the home’s sense of scale and grandeur. The challenge was not to make the house smaller, but to make it feel effortless—spacious in its movement, graceful in its restraint.

Drawing from lessons of past builds, the team successfully preserved beauty without excess through symmetry, texture, and craftsmanship while updating it with modern functionality.
