This home reflects the character of its historic neighbors while supporting the needs of a modern family. A crisp white brick façade, distinctive roof pitches, and carefully detailed windows give the home a sense of sophistication and permanence while remaining welcoming and approachable. Deep arches and graceful swoops form the foundation of the design, while layered millwork and soft surfaces add depth and warmth to the interiors.

The layout balances formal and casual living, creating a natural flow between spaces suited for both everyday family life and entertaining. Bright interiors filled with natural light and flexible rooms allow the home to adapt as the family’s needs evolve.

Every design decision was made with the homeowners in mind—a young family relocating from England. The intention was to reflect their history, preferences, and lifestyle throughout the home.

One of the primary challenges of the project was designing and constructing the swooped roof and the matching curved ceiling above the main staircase. Another challenge involved balancing the city’s height restrictions with the desired architectural expression of the home.

To execute the complex roofline and interior ceiling, the team modeled the structure in 3D to ensure proper alignment and support. Custom framing techniques and flexible materials allowed the builders to achieve the precise curves, creating a seamless transition between exterior and interior forms. Roof pitches, ceiling heights, and foundation grades were thoughtfully adjusted to remain within city requirements while preserving the intended proportions and overall design vision.

The result is a home that met all city requirements without compromising the intended design vision.
