Nestled high on a bluff, this 8,700-square-foot home on 23 bucolic acres was conceived as a timeless refuge—supporting daily life and multigenerational gathering. A scouting trip to Park City, Utah, where mountain modern architecture fuses natural materials with streamlined forms, informed the home’s front elevation and overall design direction.

Working closely with the project team and trades, the homeowners sought to dissolve the boundary between indoors and out, incorporating expansive window walls that capture panoramic views. Every finish and proportion was chosen to evoke calm; every detail—down to a stair tread or a lighting bracket—had to serve the design and the view.

Engineering challenges became triumphs. The two-sided limestone fireplace with floating hearth that anchors the living space features a concealed support system to preserve openness and light. White oak trusses on the porches were constructed with handcrafted joinery, a nod to century-old barns uniting heritage and modern precision.

Material continuity unites every space: reclaimed barnwood, leathered quartzite countertops, and soft neutral tones. Lighting became a study in balance. Two six-foot, handblown-glass fixtures in the Moose Room were suspended from ridge beams using hidden welded brackets, balancing artistry and structure.

Personal expression plays a meaningful role throughout. The homeowner, an avid hunter, wanted the design to seamlessly incorporate taxidermy pieces that reinforce heritage and connection to the land. Outdoors, a natural, low-maintenance landscape aesthetic feels native to the bluff.

The final home stands as an expression of enduring craftsmanship and place—where innovation and authenticity converge, and the view remains both muse and reward.
