The residence was envisioned as a sanctuary for a family who loves to cook, gather, and entertain—a home where warmth meets wit and every detail tells a story. Natural textures and refined finishes establish the home’s foundation. Bleached oak floors, richly veined marble slabs, and walnut accents create an organic palette that reflects the homeowners’ personalities. At the center of the 5,000-square-foot home is the kitchen, designed as both a functional workspace and sculptural focal point. A dramatic waterfall island in Corchia marble, walnut spice inserts, and a custom reeded-glass hood balance serenity with strength, transforming everyday cooking into an elevated experience.

Throughout the home, the design prioritizes emotional connection as much as aesthetics. The living room is conceived as a true “room with a view,” framed by floor-to-ceiling windows and anchored by a marble-clad fireplace. In the entry, warm wood paneling and a glass-panel staircase introduce light, movement, and a distinctly contemporary spirit.

One of the project’s central challenges was balancing whimsy with sophistication. The homeowners wanted a space that felt lived-in and inviting yet architecturally bold. Material cohesion also required careful attention, as bleached oak, walnut, and dramatic marble needed to feel harmonious rather than heavy.

The design solution relied on thoughtful repetition, custom millwork, and integrated storage to define spaces while preserving openness. Art was treated as a design element, with curated pieces—including works by contemporary artist Bastiaan Woudt—strategically placed to reinforce the home’s narrative.

Ultimately, the home is a subtle drama, blending warmth with precision, softness with structure, and family life with fine art. The result is a residence that doesn’t just house its owners—it expresses who they are, with beauty and intention in every detail.
