Kitchen—more than 300 sq ft Stud to Stardom The homeowners sought a space that balanced modern functionality with timeless craftsmanship. The challenge was to integrate two distinct features—a walk-in pantry
Interior Project: Single Space
This project began with a historic laundry room in a 1900s home that was ready for both a functional update and a thoughtful design refresh. Fortunately, the space already featured several beautiful elements worth preserving, including a stained-glass window, a transom, and a hand-laid penny tile floor.
The design carefully incorporated the homeowners’ many functional requests while ensuring every element had an intentional place. Custom cabinetry integrates a gift wrap station, pull-out laundry basket shelves and drawers, a fold-out drying rack, large appliances, and built-in dog food dispensers, while the washer and dryer were intentionally designed to appear as though they were housed within a custom armoire. Carrara marble countertops brighten the room while adding a refined, timeless touch, and the cabinetry creates a warm and harmonious backdrop. Thoughtfully selected hardware completes the design, acting as the finishing “jewelry” of the space.
Through careful planning, collaboration, and persistence, the result is an elegant and highly functional laundry space that feels welcoming, organized, and beautifully integrated into the historic home.
