Interior Project: Multi-Space
The primary goal of this renovation was to thoughtfully reimagine the home’s main gathering spaces, focusing on the kitchen, bar, and a newly dedicated coffee area. The original layout limited storage, functionality, and flow, leading to the bold decision to relocate the kitchen to the opposite side of the home. This move created room for a larger island, clearer zoning, and improved circulation that better supports everyday living and entertaining.
A casual dining space adjacent to the kitchen was also a priority. The clients wanted an area that felt relaxed and connected rather than formal or isolated. Custom casework was incorporated throughout to increase storage while maintaining a cohesive design. The aesthetic blends modern refinement with traditional influence, featuring slim two-inch shaker cabinetry with subtle beaded detailing, paired with thoughtfully selected hardware to add warmth and familiarity.
One of the project’s biggest challenges was the accelerated timeline and remote collaboration. The homeowners were relocating to Kansas City during construction while also preparing for the arrival of twins, requiring efficient communication, quick approvals, and careful scheduling.
A major design solution came in reimagining the home’s circulation. What was once a cluster of unrelated doors became a striking paneled millwork wall with integrated hidden access points. Vertical paneling creates rhythm while concealing three doors leading to the powder bath, pantry, and dining room. Precise alignment, concealed hinges, and frameless installation ensured the doors blend seamlessly into the millwork.
By relocating key spaces, integrating custom storage, and unifying circulation through architectural millwork, the renovation delivers a cohesive, functional, and timeless environment tailored to the clients’ lifestyle.
