Bathroom—Primary Serenity Suite The primary bathroom, once dark and cramped with a small, impractical shower, was in need of a full update. The homeowners wanted a brighter, more spacious design
Interior Project: Multi-Space
When the client purchased a 1970s Tudor, the home was charming but visually heavy. Dark beams, paneling, cabinetry, and trim made the spaces feel closed in—a house “with too much character,” the client joked. The goal was to preserve that charm while brightening, lightening, and modernizing the main living areas: the family room, kitchen, breakfast room, and formal dining room.
Vibrant, colorful artwork provided the inspiration for the palette, bringing personality into the home without sacrificing its Tudor roots. The family room was designed as a cozy spot for movie nights, while the formal dining room became a moody, elegant setting for larger gatherings.
Challenges included lifting the visual weight without erasing character and refreshing the kitchen without investing in a full remodel. Solutions were thoughtful and phased: paneled walls and cabinets were painted white, select trim was removed to open ceilings, and the brick fireplace was refaced in stucco for a brighter focal point. The kitchen received painted cabinets, quartz countertops, beveled subway tile, and a custom island on casters that doubles as a buffet for entertaining. A bold Roman shade above the window adds drama and color.
The home feels modern and airy, yet retains the warmth, personality, and Tudor charm that first captured the client’s heart.
