Shaping a space worthy of an audiophile’s prized sound system and vinyl collection was a designer’s career highlight. Inspired by Jimmy Fallon’s personal music room, the client wanted something more elevated than the typical vinyl hobby space. He had already researched ideal speaker placement for the best acoustics. That wall became the focal point of the listening room, where a custom built-in cabinet was designed to sit between the Altec Lansing 19 speakers, concealing equipment and providing storage. A leathered Belvedere granite countertop with a mitered edge adds contrast and ties in the darker tones of the audio components.

In the vinyl vault, cabinetry was inspired by record store displays, with angled bins for easy browsing, pull-out drawers for additional storage, and refined rectangular cubbies above. Rift-sawn white oak cabinetry wraps the room, echoing the wood used elsewhere in the home.

Acoustic performance was enhanced with sound-absorbing carpet and wood-slat panels, while dimmable lighting and comfortable seating create a warm, immersive listening atmosphere.
