The goal of this project was to transform an outdated apartment above a car dealership into a unique entertainment destination for the owners to host business partners and friends. As the design evolved, the vision expanded into a versatile venue that could also accommodate corporate events, meetings, and private gatherings.

The space was designed around a central entertainment area with generous seating and a full bar, while also incorporating a flexible guest sleeping area and a full bathroom to support overnight stays. A defining feature of the design was the clients’ extensive taxidermy collection—including deer mounts, a massive sailfish, and a 15-foot shark—which was thoughtfully integrated throughout the space as striking, one-of-a-kind art pieces.

The project presented several logistical challenges. Transporting oversized elements—particularly the shark and large fireplace stone slabs—into a second-floor space with only a narrow stair entry proved difficult. Ultimately, a lift was used to hoist the pieces onto the roof and bring them in through sliding doors. Flooring also required a pivot when attempts to refinish the original concrete failed due to its deteriorated condition; an engineered flooring solution was sourced that preserved the desired industrial aesthetic while staying within budget.

Ceiling conditions posed another obstacle due to minimal insulation and exposed nailheads. Rather than covering the structure and losing height, the entire ceiling was painted black, allowing imperfections to visually disappear while enhancing the moody, industrial atmosphere. A wood-cased opening around the bar helped resolve varying ceiling heights and provided a cohesive architectural transition.

The dramatic, industrial-inspired entertainment space is tailor-made for memorable gatherings and unforgettable experiences.
