Outdoor Living Space + Pool
The client wanted a sleek, contemporary pool that complemented his home while maximizing a challenging lot. As an avid golfer, he requested a custom artificial turf area for putting practice. Preserving views of the signature golf hole was essential, so sightlines remained open while privacy and defined outdoor living areas were maintained.
A major focal point is the stone outdoor fireplace, echoing the home’s interior fireplace. It doubles as a TV wall, anchoring the lounge and tying the architecture together. The stone adds warmth and texture to the clean, modern lines of the space.
The lot’s steep 3:1 slope presented significant challenges. Terracing reshaped the backyard, creating a level plane capable of supporting the pool, pergola, fireplace, lounging areas, and putting green. Engineered retaining walls stabilized the slope, transforming a previously unusable yard into a functional and visually dynamic outdoor environment.
Under the existing deck, a shaded retreat was created with a fully equipped outdoor kitchen and living area, making use of previously overlooked space. Multiple seating areas were strategically arranged—chaise lounges poolside, groupings around the fireplace, and spaces beneath the pergola—each designed to be functional, cohesive, and visually integrated with the golf course views.
Every element was carefully considered to balance usability, privacy, and aesthetic harmony. The revamped backyard is now a retreat that supports entertainment, relaxation, and golf practice while maintaining striking connections to the home and its stunning surroundings.
