Landscape + Garden
After thoughtfully renovating the interior of their Ward Parkway home, the owners were ready for the exterior to reflect the same level of beauty and craftsmanship. Previous attempts with other companies had fallen short of their expectations. Inspired by distinctive designs they admired throughout their neighborhood, they partnered with Kristopher Dabner, owner and creative director, and James Walls, lead designer, to reimagine both the front and back yards.
The front yard transformation came together quickly, but the backyard required a complete overhaul to create a functional, year-round living and entertaining space. Surveys revealed misplaced fence lines, prompting a full clearing of the yard—including overgrown shrubs and several aging trees. Salvaged wood was repurposed for the new outdoor fireplace, adding meaning and continuity to the redesign. An outdated patio and built-in grill were removed to make way for a more intentional layout.
A long winter delayed hardscape progress, and precise measurements were critical—ensuring mower access to the lawn, seamless integration of a Kamado Joe smoker and Kalamazoo grill, and accurate installation of limestone countertops and raised garden beds. Irrigation required careful planning to support the detailed new landscaping.
The completed design expanded usable space with adjusted fence lines, lush plantings, a fireplace, grill island, patio, cutting and herb gardens, and curated art moments. Landscape and bistro lighting create a warm, inviting glow after sunset—transforming the backyard into the year-round retreat the homeowners had envisioned.
