Eclectic Escape

Cicada Co. was tasked with refreshing a dated 1960s bathroom, blending the original architecture with the homeowner’s distinct style. Drawing inspiration from the ’70s aesthetic of Boogie Nights, the client desired a space filled with warmth, texture and room for creative expression.

The design began with ideas for a floating vanity, new window placements and a curved shower wall. To accommodate these changes, they made a small 4×4 addition, extending into part of the utility room. Custom marble elements, including a dual sink and tub surround, elevate the design, while a floor-to-ceiling curtain and vintage lighting fixtures add charm. A curved tile wall ensures privacy, and terrazzo flooring brings everything together.

Meticulous planning and innovative problem-solving were key to overcoming the challenges of working within a mid-century modern home, resulting in a space that seamlessly blends bold design with practicality.
