Custom Home 3,001 to 6,000  Sq. Ft.

Sunset Hill Custom Home

Set within Kansas City’s historic Sunset Hill neighborhood, this custom home balances tradition with contemporary living. Drawing inspiration from the Neo-Federal style, the design took cues from the Hagley Museum and Library in Wilmington, Delaware, ensuring a presence that feels both established and relevant. The project team collaborated to craft a residence that reflects the grandeur of its predecessors while embracing the comforts of today.

Inside, period-specific details merge with modern amenities. Hand-waxed knotty pine paneling, a custom panoramic mural and fireplace surrounds modeled after 1940s mantels lend authenticity. Subtle updates, including concealed drapery panels and vintage-inspired window treatments, reinforce the home’s historical narrative. The interiors were curated to evolve over time, allowing for a growing art collection and an ever-changing blend of antique and contemporary furnishings.

With a seamless indoor-outdoor connection, the home features a three-season porch, an outdoor kitchen and a pool house. Every detail—from reclaimed brick pavers to gas lanterns—was selected to ensure a residence that will endure for generations.
