Detached Structure

Prairie Village Outdoor Living

Situated in the charming, established neighborhood of Prairie Village, this outdoor living transformation is a masterclass in sophisticated design within a compact footprint. What began as an unremarkable backyard evolved into a refined oasis that balances both leisure and functionality for a growing family.

The challenge lay in integrating new features—including a pool, hot tub and cabana—into an already developed space without creating a fragmented aesthetic. By positioning the cabana strategically, the design enhances the sense of an enclosed outdoor room while preserving fluid connections between the patio, fireplace and pool terrace. The pièce de résistance? A timber trellis linking the cabana to the fireplace, elevating both elements into a grand architectural statement.

The result is a cohesive retreat where elegant entertaining and playful recreation coexist effortlessly—a testament to the power of thoughtful, phased design.
