Pleasant Valley Millworks: Creating Custom, Handcrafted Doors and Millwork

It is said that good design is in the details. That includes your home’s doors—especially ones that allow you and your guests to really make an entrance.

Whether you are looking for large pivot doors, French doors, arched doors, barn doors, pocket doors, hidden doors or glass doors, interior or exterior, standard or completely custom, pre-hung on a frame or just a door, Pleasant Valley Millworks has it. And their products will last for generations to come.

Ashton Shuck, a fourth-generation woodworker, learned his craft—and work ethic—working in his family’s wood shop in California. The artisan now runs his own company creating beautiful wood products for builders, architects and designers—using any design, any wood species and any hardware. He specializes in solid wood doors, mouldings and millwork for high-end homes and businesses throughout the Midwest.

Ashton says white oak is popular right now. Due to its light color and tight consistent grain, it lends itself to a modern look.

In this industry, customization is important. Using CAD software, they can design and create almost any idea. One of the benefits of this is, it allows them to create new products to match existing architectural woodwork for remodels and historic restoration projects.

Their most common requests include box beams, crown moulding, built-up crown moulding, baseboard, casing, flooring, face frame stock, stair treads and drawer box stock. According to Ashton, minimal modern style trim with clean lines is trending now.

Need a trim package? They also have the capability to run as much trim as you need. Utilizing a six-head moulder, they can run thousands of feet of trim in a very short time.

“With special techniques and CNC machinery, we have the capability to create radius doors and millwork, which not everyone can do,” he says.

As a local, family-owned company, Pleasant Valley Millworks’ goal is to earn each customer’s business by working hard, keeping our word and providing a quality product, while building long lasting relationships. “We work directly with our customers, as opposed to selling through dealers, to ensure their expectations are met and to provide excellent customer service,” Ashton says.

The company will deliver to most areas, and if it’s too far to deliver, they will ship it right to your job site.
