ome for a day or stay for a lifetime? Either scenario is possible at Meadowbrook Park, where you can take the kids to play and grab a bite, or where you can settle into the maintenance-provided living community.
Once a 136-acre golf course near 91st and Nall in Prairie Village, gently rolling greens and pristine lakes remain while a host of opportunities have developed for public and private use. Everyone is welcome to enjoy the trails, playground, pickleball courts and shelters, and Johnson County Parks and Recreation operates special events and classes at Meadowbrook Community Center. But the connecting housing—including apartments, senior living, twin villas, single-family residences and a hotel—is unique in the industry.
“Living on a park’s edge is something that isn’t often seen in Kansas City,” says Justin Duff, senior director of development with VanTrust Real Estate. “There has been a lot of interest in the development on a national scale, including being profiled by The Wall Street Journal.”
Single-Family Living and Twin Villas
Priced from the low one-millions, 48 custom homes occupy The Reserve. Local luxury builders Ambassador Construction, Holthaus Building, KOENIG Building + Restoration, Lambie Custom Homes, and RM Standard Construction have crafted individual custom homes in this gated community. There’s also a private pool.
Developed by Tom French Construction, some of the 70 Twin Villas in Meadowbrook Park lie inside The Reserve, but most occupy the Parkside neighborhood. Rear-loaded garages create clean front facades, while private courtyards create beautiful outdoor environments.
“We have certainly been pleased with the commitment to custom architecture and the mix of architectural styles and are proud of the way the community has taken shape,” Justin says.
Luxury Apartments and Senior Living
Meadowbrook Park offers apartments on four floors at The Kessler. Residents enjoy an accessible parking garage and small balconies, plus a 24-hour fitness center and resort pool. And it’s easy to socialize inside the clubhouse or private dining room.
Family-oriented Meadowbrook Dial Senior Living operates near Twin Villas and The Inn at Meadowbrook.
Residents can access independent living, assisted living or nationally certified memory care facilities. Elegant common spaces, gourmet fare, underground parking, housekeeping and 24-hour onsite staff are other perks. By this summer, resident units will total 225.
The Inn at Meadowbrook
Visitors enjoy casual luxury at The Inn, a 54-room boutique hotel where bicycles await guests near an inviting lobby. Dark wood floors and leather or fabric-covered furnishings and headboards complement the spacious bathrooms, wide windows and crisp linens.
Inside the hotel, The Market is a casual spot to unwind and recharge over pastries and coffee or house-made soups, salads and luscious entrees. Guests can also pick up beer and wine, as well as charcuterie trays, dips and other to-go items.
Outside The Market, a vintage Airstream trailer houses Miss Ruby’s in The Park, known for beignets and fresh-brewed Starbucks. There’s also craft beer and canned wine, ice cream and dog treats.
Near the lobby, Verbena restaurant serves East Coast tradition merged with Midwest flavor. Think fried oysters and New England calamari clam chowder, or Amish chicken Kiev and grilled Duroc pork chop. The restaurant is full of sleek lines, with natural light and sunshine-colored booths. There’s a huge wine collection, too.
Justin appreciates the collective synergy of the residential offerings in Meadowbrook Park, with The Inn as the heart of the development. “Our team takes great pride in knowing that people in the community are enjoying this green space in a manner they couldn’t before when it was a private club,” he says.
