Project vision or goals

Our clients purchased a new home just north of the Plaza. With a sprawling layout, pool and basement theater this Mediterranean home was perfect for their young family. The primary suite was large and generous but the primary bathroom was certainly not. With a poor floor-plan and dated finishes, the primary bath and closet were the first renovation to complete.

Project challenges
In its original state, the bathroom flooplan was choppy and lacked natural light. The double vanities were "t" shaped with poor storage and little to no counter space. One of the only windows was situated in the closed off shower and the high ceilings were truncated by dated cabinetry . Our clients wanted a large, open and airy bathroom that had a Mediterranean Santa-Barbara like feel. This required a complete rework of the floor-plan.
Project solutions
We reimagined the floor-plan with our clients wishlist in mind. We created a large double shower in place of the small and congested vanities. The interior of the shower includes a full length marble topped bench, a long marble ledge for personal items in lieu of niches, marble floor and unlacquered brass plumbing. We carried the natural oak flooring into the bathroom from the rest of the home to keep the space feeling warm and cozy despite its large footprint. We designed a custom marble "mat" outside the shower in the same marble as the shower doorframe and interior ledges. We designed two stand alone custom oak vanities with large drawers, ample storage and stunning natural marble countertop, ledges and mirror surrounds. The high ceilings allowed us to utilize a light fixture not typically showcased in bathrooms–a long linear stunner with a modern design. The soaking tub sits between the vanities and with natural light pouring in and the creamy walls and marble wall, it is a real retreat!
